Interim Pastor - Rev. Alex Carr, PhD

Alex Carr is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. He grew up hearing the gospel at his home church and called on the Lord Jesus to save him at an early age. His pastor baptized him and taught him about spiritual disciplines. His church affirmed his call to full-time ministry. He holds biblical studies degrees from Union University (BA) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv, ThM, PhD). He met his wife at seminary, and they were married on June 23, 2012. They have three (active!) children. Lately, his wife has been working on her doctoral degree in Christian missions at Southern Seminary. He is the author of Paul, Women, and the Meaning of Silence: A Contextual Reading of 1 Corinthians 14:34–35 (New York: Peter Lang, 2023). He enjoys time with his family and looks forward to time together with South County Community Church!

SUNDAY SCHOOL @ 9AM

Christian education is offered for all ages at 9AM on Sunday mornings.

Adults and teens gather to learn a topical or systematic study from a book of a Bible. Please contact the church office to learn more about what class is currently offered and other small groups that meet throughout the week.

Children can attend an elementary (ages 6-12) or preK (ages 2-5) class where they will engage with age-appropriate Bible stories and activities from the Gospel Story Curriculum. Each week students will learn how every part of God’s Word points to Jesus as they walk through the Old and New Testaments over a span of three years.

kids ministry

Our mission in Kids Minsitry is the same mission of our church here at South County, and the same mission Jesus gave to his disciples - go and make disciples. To that end we have the following priorities in Kids Ministry:

  • Partnering with families by providing resources & support to disciple children in the ways of the Lord

  • Providing gospel-centered, age-appropriate curriculum that teaches God’s full redemptive story

  • Providing loving & safe care for young children so parents are able to worship regularly with the church body

  • Reaching families in our community with the hope of the gospel in outreach events like VBS and partnership with local ministries, like WellSpring Life

10AM Nursery Care & Family Room

Children five and under are welcome in the nursery where they will hear a Bible story, enjoy a snack, and engage in music, coloring, and play.  Children six and older are encouraged to attend service with their family, but children of all ages are welcome. We also offer a family room in the back of our sanctuary to use whenever needed to change, feed or comfort your children during service. Your children are never a distraction, always a delight.
